About Scyon Linea Weatherboard
Scyon Linea Weatherboard is a 16mm thick horizontal fibre cement weatherboard designed for external cladding on residential and light commercial buildings. It is manufactured using James Hardie’s Scyon™ formulation – a low-density cement composite that enables thicker profiles with deep shadow lines not achievable with conventional fibre cement.
At 16mm, Linea is the thickest weatherboard cladding available on the Australian market. The increased thickness creates bold, deep shadow lines between boards, giving facades a contemporary architectural presence that lighter-gauge products cannot match. Available in two widths – 150mm and 180mm – in 4.2m lengths, allowing designers to create classic, contemporary, or composite looks.
Linea resists shrinking, swelling, and cracking, and holds both dark and light paint finishes longer than timber when installed and maintained correctly. It is pre-primed, easy to install with standard tools, and backed by James Hardie’s product warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Scyon Linea different from standard weatherboards?
Linea is 16mm thick – the thickest weatherboard on the Australian market – compared to 7.5–9mm for standard fibre cement weatherboards. This additional thickness creates deeper, bolder shadow lines that give facades a more premium, architectural appearance. It uses James Hardie’s Scyon formulation, a low-density cement composite that can’t be achieved with conventional fibre cement.
Is Scyon Linea suitable for bushfire-prone areas?
Yes. Scyon Linea achieves a BAL-40 bushfire rating when installed in accordance with James Hardie’s bushfire compliance guide. It’s one of the few weatherboard products suitable for high bushfire risk areas.
Can I paint Linea in dark colours?
Yes. Linea’s advanced Scyon formulation means it can accept dark paint colours without risk of warping or buckling, unlike standard fibre cement weatherboards which are typically limited to lighter shades.
What width should I choose - 150mm or 180mm?
180mm boards create a more traditional weatherboard look with fewer joins, while 150mm boards suit heritage or cottage-style homes. Both widths use the same fixing and overlap system.
Can I mix Linea with other Scyon cladding products?
Absolutely. Many architects combine Linea weatherboards with Scyon Axon or Stria panels to create contrast between floors or feature walls. All Scyon products share the same paint and warranty system.
Does Linea need special tools to install?
No special tools are required. Standard fibre cement cutting and fixing tools work with Linea. James Hardie recommends using PVA-tipped screws or stainless steel nails for fixing.
What warranty does Scyon Linea come with?
Scyon Linea comes with James Hardie’s 15-year product warranty when installed in accordance with their installation guide and maintained as recommended.
