Why Choose Fibre Cement?
Where is Fibre Cement Used?
Fibre cement cladding is used across a broad range of project types and climate zones throughout Australia. In detached residential construction (Class 1), it is the dominant external wall cladding material, used on everything from volume house builds to custom homes.
It is also widely specified in dedium-density residential projects, including townhouses and dual-occupancy builds, due to its consistent compliance pathway and low maintenance performance. Light commercial and mixed-use facades increasingly specify fibre cement sheets and panels for their clean, modern finish. For renovation and alteration projects, fibre cement provides a durable, low-maintenance cladding solution compatible with most existing wall systems. Its proven performance across tropical, coastal, arid, and temperate climates make it a reliable cladding option nationwide.
Fibre Cement vs Timber
For most volume residential builders, fibre cement is the practical default: consistent profile tolerances, a clear BAL compliance pathway to BAL-40, termite resistance, and minimal maintenance overhead. Natural timber cladding offers authentic grain, natural warmth often seen on custom and architect-designed homes, but typically requires periodic oiling or staining and carries more variable BAL compliance depending on species, density, and wall system configuration.
The most common approach on premium residential projects is to use fibre cement as the primary external wall cladding system and reserving natural timber for feature areas where the aesthetic investment justifies the added cost and maintenance.
Installation & Compliance
All products are supplied with detailed installation guides and CodeMark certificates. These documents should be the primary reference for installation methodology, fixing schedules, and compliance confirmation. Our teams can assist with confirming NCC compliance for your specific project class, verifying BAL suitability against your site designation, and identifying the correct installation system – including framing, sarking, and batten configurations.
