Big River Group – Breakwater serves builders and contractors across the Geelong region, Bellarine Peninsula, and Surf Coast. Offering a full range of structural timber, plywood, cladding, and building products with crane truck delivery – and of course a long-history with frame & truss solutions.

Previously known as M.B. Pre-fab in Geelong, Victoria, the business was acquired by Big River Group in December 2018 and is now proudly named ‘Big River Trade Centre – Breakwater’. The Breakwater branch is a multi-award winning roof truss and wall framing manufacturer providing quality timber roof trusses, wall frames and Longreach floor trusses for commercial builders, home builders and owner builders. The Big River Group is commitment to delivering to customers high quality products, personal and knowledgeable service, and supportive before and after sales.

M.B. Pre-Fab was originally established on 5th September 1977, through a need for good quality wall frames, roof trusses and an unquestionable backup service. The company started in rented premises in Belmont with one employee who was with the business for decades, with a proud statement: ‘We only use products we would use on our own homes and business’.

From quote to delivery made easy

Send us your plans. Sketch plans, working drawings or full engineering documentation — our estimators can quote from any stage of design.
Get an expert review. Our team checks roof pitch, span, wind rating and loading before pricing, flagging potential issues early rather than after fabrication.
Receive your quote. Most quotes are turned around within 1–2 weeks, depending on project complexity and current workload.
Factory fabrication. Trusses are manufactured to your specific design with final site measurements confirmed 1–2 weeks before your delivery date.
Delivery to site. Trusses are delivered by crane truck (semi-trailer or tray truck, depending on order size) ready for installation. Lifting to plate is the builder’s responsibility.
Ongoing site support. Our team offers a 24-hour turnaround on site queries, helping keep your build on schedule
