About TimberTech®
TimberTech® decking by James Hardie is an engineered decking board made with advanced PVC technology, designed to look like quality timber without the upkeep.
The Vintage Collection™ draws on the colours of premium hardwoods such as ipe, mahogany and teak, using blended tones and embossed grain to get a natural look. A protective cap layer guards against UV, fading and staining. Boards need only an occasional scrub and rinse, with no sanding, staining or sealing, ever.
TimberTech® decking resists moisture, rot, mould and termites, and it won’t splinter. Boards contain an average of 55% recycled material. They suit residential and commercial decks, including wet areas and bushfire-prone sites up to BAL-29.

Is TimberTech® decking real wood?
No. It’s engineered with advanced PVC technology and uses colour blending and embossed grain to replicate quality timber, with no sanding, staining or sealing needed.
How much maintenance does it need?
An occasional scrub and rinse. Always follow the care and maintenance guidance.
Will the colour fade?
The cap layer is designed to resist fading and staining, though colours may change slightly through natural weathering over time. The 30-year residential warranty is subject to its terms, conditions and installation requirements.
Does it get hot in the sun?
Like most engineered decking, it can get warm in direct sun. It’s designed to release heat faster than many surfaces once shaded. Surface temperature varies with colour, weather and site conditions.
Can it be used near a pool or on the coast?
Yes, when installed to the technical guidance. Use Cortex™ 316 stainless steel screws for coastal sites, and confirm suitability with your builder.
Is it suitable for bushfire-prone areas?
It’s engineered to meet BAL-29 requirements. Suitability depends on the site and the required BAL, so confirm with your builder, certifier or local authority.
Is it environmentally friendly?
Boards contain an average of 55% recycled material, and the low-maintenance finish avoids ongoing sanding, staining and sealing products.
What warranty is provided?
30 years for residential and 15 years for commercial, subject to the terms, conditions and installation requirements.
